Singapore police investigating case of 5-year-old boy slapped by unknown man

SINGAPORE: The police are investigating a case of a five-year-old who was slapped by an unknown man at a minimart at Block 182A, Rivervale Crescent, on Saturday (Jan 6).

On Tuesday, the boy’s mother, Vivien Chan, took to Facebook to recount the incident.

She also shared closed-circuit television footage of the alleged assault.

She said her son was attacked by the man for no apparent reason before 9am.

The boy’s mother and father later came across the purported attacker in the evening and found his home.

They then told the police about his whereabouts, but were dismayed that the officers did not arrest the man.

In a statement to the media, the police said they interviewed the man and provided updates to the boy’s parents.

“Based on the preliminary details and statements of the parties concerned, the case was classified as Voluntarily Causing Hurt, under Section 323 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224, which is a non-arrestable offence.”–thestar.com.my
