Eight things you may not know about the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus

Last year Apple launched two new iPhones – the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus, but this year the company unveiled three models – the iPhone 8, 8 Plus and X.

While Apple is still keeping us guessing to the launch date of the iPhone X, the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus is already here.

The latest models pack a lot of functions so before you get your hands on them, here are several features you may not know about.

  1. All about the bass
  2. The Home button

The iPhone 8 and 8 Plus have the same haptic Home button that was introduced with the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus, which everyone loves. This will not be present on the iPhone X as the entire front is the display.

You are not alone if you enjoy using the Home button, which makes the iPhone 8 or 8 Plus the better choice.

  1. Say hello to A11 Bionic

The A11 Bionic chip is the heart of not just the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus but also the iPhone X, and the new processor offers a big boost in performance so you can expect a smoother user experience.

For the more tech-savvy, the A11 chip has six cores – two performance cores and four efficiency cores. The efficiency cores are up to 70% faster than the old A10 Fusion chip while the two performance cores are up to 25% faster.

  1. Environmental friendly

Not only do the phones have an arsenic-free display glass but the LED backlight is mercury free and the phones are also made from recyclable aluminum. These features are part of Apple’s commitment to reduce the environmental impact of their products.

  1. Read comfortably with True Tone

With True Tone enabled, your eyes won’t need to strain as much when using your phone.

You may be wondering how is this different from auto-brightness?

Auto-brightness adjusts the brightness of your screen based on your surroundings. True Tone, on the other hand, adjusts the colour and intensity of your phone’s screen.

This nifty feature offers a more natural viewing experience that reduces the strain on your eyes.

  1. Faster wireless charging

One of the attractive features of the iPhone 8 series is that it’s designed with a glass back that allows for wireless charging. All you need to do is put your phone on top of a wireless charging mat and you’re good to go.

Does your phone take forever to recharge? Switch over to the iPhone 8 or 8 Plus because it charges faster than the older models. The new models are capable of fast charging your drained battery to 50% in just 30 minutes, according to Apple.

  1. Portrait Lighting for better photos

Users who are looking for more versatility with photos should opt for the iPhone 8 Plus. The iPhone 8 Plus has portrait mode and portrait lighting. The former adds depth to photos, while the latter allows users to manipulate the lighting for a more dramatic effect.

  1. You can own one without blowing your budget

The iPhone 8 and 8 Plus are Apple’s most expensive models to date, but that doesn’t mean you have to pay the full price to own one. Get the phone with a mobile plan so you don’t blow a hole in your wallet.

U Mobile offers great packages that will allow you to get the phones with a lower upfront payment. For example, new and existing subscribers can get an iPhone 8 from as low as RM2,140 with the U Mobile i130 plan.

The i130 plan comes with 10GB of data but you don’t have to worry about using it all up, as it comes with Video-Onz and Music-Onz which give you unlimited data for streaming music and videos on top of your core data.

On top of that you also get App-Onz which offers unlimited data for browsing social networks such as Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. The best part – you also get free data for Waze so you can get around without worrying about your data.

So save money by not paying the full price of the iPhone 8 and get it with a U Mobile plan instead.–thestar.com.my
