JOHOR BARU: Five suspects have been arrested in connection with the shooting case at a coffeeshop in Pekan Bukit Gambir, Tangkak last Friday (Oct 20).
In the 4am incident, two men, in their 30s, were shot and injured after a man opened fire seven times with a pistol.
Johor police chief Comm Datuk Mohd Khalil Kader Mohd said the five suspects who were arrested last Saturday (Oct 21) are in their 30s to 40s.
“Investigations revealed the case could be related to drugs and the suspects were the acquaintances of the victims,” he told a press conference after attending the Johor contingent’s monthly assembly.
The Star reported that the two men were having drinks with a group of friends when a suspect opened fire at close range. The suspect fled the scene on a motorcycle.
The case is being investigated for attempted murder and under Section 3(1) of the Firearms (Increased Penalties) Act 1971.–thestar.com.my
