KUALA KRAI: A 65-year-old man was trampled to death by a cow that was being prepared for sacrifice in Kampung Dusun Durian, Dabong on Friday.
Kamarudin Mamat (pic) fell to the ground after being stomped by the cow on the chest on the morning of Aidiladha.
He died of the injuries while on the way to the Dabong health clinic.
His daughter, Siti Hajar Kamarudin, 36, said her father had spent the morning praying at a nearby surau. He also praised the nasi briyani that Siti Hajar had prepared for breakfast before the incident.
“My father had breakfast before going to where the cow was kept to prepare for the slaughter,” said Siti Hajar.
“Before stepping out, he complimented my nasi briyani, saying it was delicious,” she said.
Kamarudin reared five cows and 10 goats. The cow that was chosen for the slaughter was aggressive.
“Before the tragedy, the cow ran loose four times so we returned home, about 100m away, to watch the slaughter.
“Suddenly, my father fell down and had to be carried home by a few people,” Siti Hajar said.
Siti Hajar, her husband and her 59-year-old mother Che Hasmah Abdul Rahmad then brought Kamarudin to the clinic for treatment. – Sinar Harian/thestar.com.my
